Historical maps of Austria-Hungary empire

Historical maps are fascinating. You can see how people were thinking, you can see history, partly growth of villages, towns and cities, when you compare it to nowadays.

There is Hungarian web page called arcanum.hu. They got archive of historical maps of Austria-Hungary empire. Maps are connected with google maps API.You can set up the transparency of historical maps, pan or zoom. You can insert name of the town which you want explore. Very easy to use. Archive of those maps you can find here: archiveportal.arcanum.hu.

Austro-Hungarian Monarchy was result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, under which the House of Habsburg agreed to share power with the separate Hungarian government, dividing the territory of the former Austrian Empire between them. Monarchy ended up after the end of World War I in 1918(link).
